The BRICS Young Scientists Forum "Building BRICS Youth Leadership through Science, Technology and Innovation" was held in Durban, the Republic of South Africa. The forum was held with the support of the relevant ministries of the BRICS countries. This is a great event for the scientific world which gathered more than 100 young innovators from Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa for the third time.

Experts from the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation selected 15 participants. There were scientists from TSU named after G.R. Derzhavin, Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov, MPTI, Institute of Problems of Chemical Physics of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology, Chita State Medical Academy, Novosibirsk State University and some other universities. Tambov State University was represented by Tatyana Pirozhkova, an employee of TSU Research Institute of Nanotechnologies and Nanomaterials.

Participants discussed practical importance of research in order to increase the economic potential of the BRICS countries. Particular attention was paid to energy issues, as well as new structural and functional materials.

“Representation of the University and our achievements at the international level is very important for continuing scientific growth and expanding business contacts. The forum allowed not only to share research results of our University, but also to exchange experiences with young scientists from Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa and to establish contacts for joint scientific activities with foreign organizations. All this became possible thanks to the support of youth science, which is provided by Derzhavin University,” Tatyana Pirozhkova noted.
