Derzhavin University continues to promote and popularize the Russian language and Russian culture abroad. In the Tropical Agrarian and Forestry Institute of the University of Hainan (China) at the Faculty of the Russian Language, classes were held timed to Pushkin Day and Russia Day. They were initiated by Irina Popovicheva and Galina Khokhlova, professors of the Department of Russian as a Foreign Language.
On Alexander Pushkin’s birthday sophomores talked about the life of the poet and Chinese motives in his work. Students recited their favorite poems and watched "The Tale of a Fisherman and a Fish". At the party dedicated to the memory of Pushkin, young people remembered the brightest events of the semester, and participated in the Russian song contest. Professor Wu Ping, Dean of the Faculty, gave special awards to the winners of the Russian language Olympiads. Irina Popovicheva, Associate Professor of the Department of Russian as a Foreign Language (TSU) has been regularly initiating Pushkin festival at Hainan University since 2013.
On Russia Day Chinese students studying Russian at Hainan University recalled the main milestones of Russian history, watched and discussed a film about Peter I.
