On June 12, Tambov residents celebrated City Day and Russia Day. Derzhavin University students and professors took part in the celebration. They prepared thematic venues for the residents of the regional center. Governor Alexander Nikitin looked around the University exposition.

In Derzhavinskaya Street, TSU students told schoolchildren and their parents about university life, the youth policy of the University and sports achievements. On the platform of the TSU Museum it was possible for everyone to find out their weight and try themselves in a role of an archeologist. Students of the Faculty of Culture and Arts dressed in the images of cartoon characters played with children, put face painting on their faces and made toys from balloons. On the site of the Faculty of History, World Politics and Sociology, Tambov residents tried on a chain mail. Representatives of the Tambov Regional Department of "Volunteers-Doctors" conducted master classes on the first aid basics. The participants of the Tambov Regional Department "Russian Student Teams" also talked about the peculiarities of their work. Students of the Faculty of Philology and Journalism taught the basics of Chinese calligraphy and represented Russian folk costumes. Tambov residents were able to get acquainted with the activities of the criminal laboratory of the Institute of Law and National Security, make a photo sketch and learn fingerprinting. Experienced teachers, psychologists and speech therapists of the Pedagogical Institute within the framework of the "Pedagogical Workshop" conducted free consultations and played with children. The Institute of Economics, Management and Service organized a tourist station for visitors and prepared a set of tasks to increase the financial literacy of the population. Tambov residents also could see the products of the TSU's Prototyping Center and were given the icons dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the University. The TSU orchestra created a festive mood.

Foreign students of TSU introduced residents and guests of the regional center to their native culture, playing traditional songs on ethnic musical instruments. The students conducted master classes on playing the flute, African and Arab drums, henna painting, Arabic writing.

In the celebration took part and students from Vietnam, who are taking language courses in Derzhavin University.

Vietnamese students who are taking the Russian language course at Derzhavin University also participated in the celebration.

“We have been in Tambov for a week. Over this period we have made a tour of the city and have seen its sights. We have been to several museums and a theater; we have made a boat trip," says Ngo Thi Thu Huong, head of the group of Vietnamese students. "On June 12 we visited City Day celebration. It was a very bright holiday! We like Tambov, it's a friendly and beautiful city.”
